LCIC CELEBRATES BUWAN NG WIKA 2026 THROUGH A VIBRANT SHOWCASE OF FILIPINO CULTURE, LANGUAGE, AND TRADITION

LAPU-LAPU CITY, CEBU — August 27, 2026 — Lapulapu-Cebu International College (LCIC) celebrated Buwan ng Wika 2026 with a vibrant and meaningful daylong celebration that brought together students, faculty, and staff in honoring the richness of Filipino language, culture, traditions, and community.

The celebration featured two major activities throughout the day. The morning program highlighted Pista sa Nayon, a colorful showcase of Filipino heritage, while the afternoon culminated in a lively cultural presentation featuring songs, dances, and performances by members of the LCIC community.

Pista sa Nayon: Celebrating Filipino Heritage Through Food, Culture, and Community

The morning celebration came alive through Pista sa Nayon, where students transformed their designated spaces into colorful representations of a traditional Filipino village fiesta.

With creativity, teamwork, and cultural pride, students prepared an array of traditional Filipino food, decorations, and cultural displays, reflecting the diversity of Philippine heritage. Each presentation showcased not only the visual beauty of Filipino traditions but also the stories, values, and practices associated with them.

Students presented their cultural displays to the judges, explaining the significance behind their decorations, food, and concepts. The activity provided students with an opportunity to learn about and appreciate Filipino traditions while developing their creativity, collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.

Adding to the festive atmosphere were traditional Filipino games, which encouraged students to participate, interact, and experience the spirit of camaraderie and bayanihan that is deeply rooted in Filipino culture.

More than a competition, Pista sa Nayon became a celebration of Filipino identity, hospitality, creativity, and community spirit.

Culminating Activity: A Celebration Through Music and Dance

The celebration continued in the afternoon with the Buwan ng Wika Culminating Activity, where students, faculty, and staff took center stage to showcase Filipino culture through music, dance, and artistic expression.

The program featured a variety of performances that highlighted the richness of Philippine traditions. Students performed different Filipino folk dances, including Cariñosa, Itik-itik, Tiklos, and other traditional dances, each reflecting the cultural heritage and artistic traditions of different communities in the Philippines.

The performances were complemented by songs and presentations from members of the LCIC community, creating an atmosphere filled with energy, pride, and appreciation for Filipino culture.

The participation of both students and employees made the celebration particularly meaningful, demonstrating that the preservation and appreciation of culture is a shared responsibility across generations and within the entire academic community.
