The Lapulapu-Cebu International College (LCIC) Futsal Team, Smart Stags, delivered a competitive
performance during the futsal matches held on April 11โ12, 2026, in Kalag-itan, Buanoy, Balamban,
Cebu.
Competing in the U19 category, the Stags finished as first runner-up. They opened with a 4โ0 loss
against Rascals Talisay, followed by a 1โ1 draw against Lady Falcons, and a 2โ0 win over Stray
Warriors. They earned a spot in the championship round, where they once again faced Rascals Talisay.
Despite an intense match, the Smart Stags fell short with a final score of 4โ2.
The following day, the Smart Stags pushed forward in the Womenโs Open category, placing among the
top two teams in Bracket A (semi-finals). The team recorded a 1โ1 draw against WD40 & Above, secured
a 4โ2 win over BK FC, and suffered a 4โ0 loss to Stray Warriors. This placed them in a crucial
position, forcing a penalty shootout to determine the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals.
The Smart Stags narrowly lost the shootout, 3โ2, but still secured a top-two finish in their
bracket.
Despite the mixed results, the tournament highlighted the teamโs ability to adapt, recover, and
compete under pressure. The Smart Stags demonstrated grit and determination across both categories.
The LCIC Smart Stags Futsal Team is sponsored by CELS Director Mark Anderson and BAELS Chairperson
Charles Kim, whose continued support has played a vital role in the teamโs growth and competitive
spirit.
Congratulations to the LCIC Smart Stags Futsal Team for their hard-fought run and achievements on
the field. The team looks ahead to future competitions with momentum and confidence.
